Weather brings wave of new work for NE experts
County Durham high level maintenance experts, Stone Technical Services (STS), have recently secured a number of new contracts as organisations prepare their buildings for the winter months.
STS has started work on preventative maintenance projects and roofing works for the NHS- at Scunthorpe Hospital and Goole General Hospital- Places for People’s Warehouse 13 development in Hull Marina and at Compton Court in south east London, as well as Ripon Cathedral and Rievaulx Abbey in North Yorkshire.
STS helps organisations save money by preparing buildings and structures for bad weather and has already seen an increase in weather-related contracts following high, damaging winds across the UK in October.
MD, Dave Stone, said: “Many more businesses and organisations now plan ahead and get their buildings safe for the winter months as it can save a lot of money in the long run. It’s also a legal obligation that buildings and structures are safe and comply with health and safety regulations. Our facilities management team has already been called out all over the country to fix damaged roofs, unblock gutters and secure signage.”
STS’s emergency repair team works across the country on repairs to homes, ancient and historic buildings and structures, shopping centres, car parks, hospitals, schools, industrial chimneys and more.
The FM team has these tips for staying safe and saving money: -
1. Carry out an external weekly check to roof areas and external fabrics- a glance upwards can often tell you if something is wrong.
2. Check internal eaves and internal finishings for any damage/damp
3. Make sure you keep a close eye on any previous problem areas where there has been damage- these could be more susceptible.
4. Call in the experts for a short assessment which will report areas of good practice maintenance and reveal where you might need repairs
5. Consider a winter health check and cost analysis for future maintenance- it really could save you money in the long run.
