Elringklinger commits to double turnover by 2019

North East Manufacturer of the year ElringKlinger (GB) is celebrating the final stage of its 50th year by officially opening two new on-site facilities and committing to double its turnover to £35 million by 2019.

Ian Swales MP was on hand at the Redcar site to oversee the official opening of a newly installed single wind turbine and a 4,000 sq ft factory site extension, both of which are now fully operational at Kirkleatham Business Park.

The wind turbine is currently generating 60 percent of the 130,000 sq ft site’s own renewable energy, which is being used to power ElringKlinger’s facilities.

The existing factory was recently extended to increase ElringKlinger’s overall production by 50 percent to cater for rising product demand.

This expansion will provide ongoing employment opportunities for local people and the wider area.

Both new facilities demonstrate ElringKlinger’s response to increased demand for its high quality automotive parts and ongoing commitment to reducing it carbon emissions throughout the business.

Ian Malcolm, managing director of ElringKlinger (GB), said: “In 2012 we set out plans to double our turnover to £26m in five years and this has already been achieved.

“Being in business for 50 years is a significant milestone for us and one we have looked forward to celebrating for some time now so it makes sense to set ourselves another target, as we celebrate the success achieved so far.

“Both the site extension and new turbine demonstrate our serious commitment to supporting the North East’s manufacturing industry. There is still work to be done across the sector UK-wide, however the outlook is far more positive than in 2012 and I do believe the future is bright.”
