Intertek global testing company to invest further in the North West

UK-based global testing company Intertek said that the North West is a very important area, not only for them but for pharmaceutical and industrial companies as a whole.

The company has plans to invest in its Manchester facilities in the upcoming year.

It has 7 locations in the North West with 700 staff, including sites in Ellesmere port, Trafford Park, Manchester and Chester.

Intertek have 60 sites across the country and employ 2,200 in the UK.

It works with many large companies including supermarkets, appliance manufacturers, oil and gas producers as well as big high street labels.

Intertek say that the testing industry is competitive however they are confident of their position within the market as not many companies can offer such a global reach.

There are a lot of smaller labs around but Intertek believe their global footprint gives them good credibility

The biggest challenge Intertek face is trying to find highly skilled scientists and engineers.

Intertek said that there needs to be more uptake in science and engineering university courses, particularly those that offer sandwich courses in industry.

Chief Executive in the UK and Eire, Rob Van Dorp said, “We always push to improve ourselves.

“We encourage our people to think what more can we do, we make sure we look at what happens in the market and come up with better ways of doing things.

“It’s not about things being easy, it’s about doing things well.

“We offer a high level of expertise, we are passionate and invest in our people”
