Roles of a Building Surveyor
Building surveyors are able to provide information and advice about existing properties;they will also evaluate and assess sites for new builds. They will survey buildings, undertake site investigations, survey bridges, commercial land and agricultural projects along with civil engineering firms in Yorkshire. They are able to provide information and advice about an existing property and its advantages/disadvantages.
Preventive Measure
Yorkshire’s building surveying firms deal with the renovation of buildings and structures and can provide details of preventive measures and actions that need to be taken. If a building is old and needs to be renovated, a building surveyor can suggest ways to do so after he and his team have made their investigations of the site. If the site survey states that the site cannot be restored, or maintained then the building surveyor can suggest destroying it to avoid causing any damage. This is done in conjunction with a CDM co-ordinator who is required to give his expert opinion and decision regarding the construction and safety elements of a building. A CDM Co-ordinator is also able to provide information about how ancient and historic buildings can be preserved and conserved over long periods of time for the benefit of the public.
Expert Opinions
The opinions and advice of CDM co-ordinators and building co-ordinators are of great importance especially in court cases where buildings have bypassed safety and security regulations. If there has been any breach in the building regulations, then Yorkshire’s building surveying firms are called to provide evidence that they have collected all data when surveying the property or construction and this is of great value in court. When conducting site investigations, they collect various kinds of evidence regarding the building or the construction. These are essential to maintaining strong and risk free constructions in a locality.
