Sheffield date for safety and environmental advice

Sheffield businesses will be tapping into the latest advice on the impact of changes to safety and environmental legislation when a national roadshow arrives in the city this week.

Cedrec, which specialises in providing public and private sector organisations with help in complying with legislation, will be running its event at Jurys Inn Sheffield on January 29.

In October alone, some 45 documents were removed from force, with further revocations and new legislation planned for the rest of the year and into 2015 - this will make it harder for businesses to ensure they are complying with the law and that everything is kept up-to-date.

The event will outline to local organisations changes in environmental legislation, the impact they have on businesses and the changes expected to come into force during 2015.

A key feature will be free one-to-one advice from Cedrec’s consultants on registers of legislation, management systems and how to get the most out of Cedrec.

Cedrec’s auditor and director Gareth Billinghurst, who is leading the event, said: “Our event targets local businesses with advice about important changes and legislation to look-out for in the coming year.

“Trying to navigate through changes in legislation can be difficult even for those with responsibility for compliance, facilities management and maintaining an environmental management system.

“Our workshops will make sense of legislation that’s constantly being revised and updated and highlight the impact it will have on organisations. It’s important that those responsible understand the risks involved and have the facts to hand.”
