North West law firm Brabners advise on Gerrard’s LA Move
The Sports team at North West law firm Brabners have been busy in the January football transfer window.
The team was instructed on one of most high profile moves which was completed early in January with Steven Gerrard announcing he was leaving Liverpool FC to join Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy.
Brabners advised Major League Soccer and LA Galaxy in relation to the deal which will see Gerrard move to LA Galaxy in July 2015.
The team also advised Major League Soccer and Toronto FC in relation to the transfer of Jermain Defoe to Sunderland with Jozy Altidore moving in the opposite direction.
In total, the team advised on over 25 deals for a number of clubs, including its long term clients Manchester United, Everton, Hull City, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Leicester City and Celtic.
They also advised Darren Fletcher in relation to his move to West Bromwich Albion.
Leading on the deal, Partner Matthew Bennett said “our knowledge and expertise of international transfers and the Major League Soccer structure led to our instruction and enabled us to advise on all aspects of the deal.”
