Nordic Focus Training Group (The One Show)

As part of our brilliant partnership with Persimmon Homes, we were featured on The One Show on BBC One (24th February 2015).

The scheme is called ‘Combat to Construction’ and is designed to recruit up to 500 ex-military personnel. We are working with Persimmon to retrain ex-personnel from the RAF, Army and Royal Navy in both bricklaying and joinery.

At the launch of the partnership, Persimmon CEO, Jeff Fairburn said “The new recruits are all starting on an 18 month training programme with time spent in the classroom and out on site. Our courses welcome new people every four weeks and based on the recruits we’ve already seen we are very excited with the quality of the candidates and some of them I’m sure will go on to take management positions within the business in the future.”

Our Executive chairman here at NFTG, Peter Robinson, said: “We’re so proud of the partnership we have with Persimmon Homes. It is a fantastic opportunity to get our ex-service men and women into long-term employment by giving them sustainable jobs.”

When asked how the new recruits we’re getting on Peter said: “They [the apprentices] are exceptional workers and have a great attitude and commitment. They are also enjoying learning new skills and are really grateful for the experience.”
