Davis Blank Furniss announces LPA week
Davis Blank Furniss – the Manchester & Glossop based law firm – will be holding its 2015 Lasting Powers of Attorney Week from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th March at its Ellison Street office in Glossop.
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) enables you to appoint a trusted friend, relative or professional to make decisions about your finances, property and personal welfare in the event that you are in an accident or you develop an illness that leaves you unable to make such decisions for yourself.
During this year’s LPA Week, the firm will be offering various discounts to anyone who wishes to put an LPA in place. Prices start at £240.00. The week long promotion includes both types of LPA: The first covers your property and financial affairs; and the second your personal welfare and health.
Laura Johnson, private client solicitor at Davis Blank Furniss, commented: “Many people don’t even consider having an LPA, but we are all living longer meaning that the number of us suffering from dementia is expected to increase year on year. If you do not have an LPA and you develop an illness - or have an accident that leaves you mentally incapacitated - then it will be extremely challenging and frustrating for your family and friends to ensure that your needs are met and that your financial affairs are kept in order.
Laura added: Our hope is that the LPA Week helps to raise awareness and really makes people think about their long-term plans.“
