Manchester supply teacher agency celebrates 10th anniversary with a year of fundraising for Manchester Dog’s Home!

The Manchester and Cheshire Dog’s Home is set to benefit from the year-long fundraising efforts of Manchester’s PK education, a supply teacher agency.

The company, which is based on Piccadilly, is celebrating its tenth year in business throughout 2015. To mark the anniversary, staff are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity and get fit in the process!

The 29 strong team, which is based across seven offices, will be putting themselves through their paces throughout 2015 undertaking a whole host of fundraising events including The London Marathon, Tough Mudders and an ambitious million metre rowing challenge by Finance Director Neil Gallagher.

PK education’s Manchester office is the laManchester supply teacher agency test office to open. The supply teacher agency opened in November in Manchester City Centre and has since been placing 100s of supply teachers and cover supervisors in schools in and around Manchester.

Neil said: “The charity challenge is a great year-long team building exercise for our Manchester office. We only opened in November last year and the fundraising efforts have really brought them together.

“For myself, doing the rowing challenge is not only a great way to get fit, something I have put off for too long, but also an excellent way to give something back and raise money. The charity challenge has really given us a focus and become a real inter office competition as to who can raise the most money. I’m looking forward to handing over a cheque at the end of our anniversary year as well as completing my personal million metre challenge.”

As well as the million metre row, fellow director Paul Gallagher, will be running the London Marathon next month

The Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home is one of five local charities nominated by PK education’s regional offices to benefit from the company’s fundraising efforts in 2015. As well as local charities, the company is also fundraising for The British Heart Foundation and has already raised just over £700.00 following the Charity’s ‘Wear it. Beat it.’ event held across PK’s offices last month.

The local charity, which has been operating since 1893, takes in and cares for over 7,000 dogs every year. Manchester and Cheshire Dog’s Home also utilises a wide range of behavioural and mentally stimulating activities to ensure each dog they rescue receives personal care and attention. The charity works to get the dogs fit and healthy before they’re made available for adoption.

Steve Mapley, Home Manager of Manchester Dogs’ Home says: “The staff and trustees of Manchester and Cheshire Dogs’ Homes would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at PK Education’s Manchester office for including us in their fund-raising efforts this year. As an independent local charity, we rely on the goodwill of local people and businesses for financial support, and it’s largely thanks to people like the team at PK Education that so many of the thousands of dogs that come through our doors each year get their happy ending.”
