Northumberland company celebrates double success
Hexham-based chipboard manufacturer EGGER UK is celebrating a double success in the Tyneside & Northumberland Business Awards.
As well as winning the University of Sunderland-sponsored Manufacturing Award at the glittering event – supported by North East Chamber of Commerce – EGGER was also a finalist in the Apprenticeship Award.
The judges’ decision was based on the company that clearly demonstrated an ongoing commitment to investment, quality, innovation, sustainability, sales performance, growth prospects and markets served.
Financial director Bernd Steinlechner commented: “This award is a big thank you to the workforce because without them it would not have been achievable, and it proves that our strategy to continuously invest in people and machinery is working.
“We just missed out on winning the Apprenticeship Award but by reaching the finalist stage it shows the success of our schemes and how they continue to develop talent within EGGER.”
“The next round will see us join the winners from the other two sub-regional finals (Teesside and Durham & Wearside) to battle it out at the final of the North East Business Awards, which will be held at Hardwick Hall Hotel in April.”
