Sheffield supply teacher agency celebrates 10th anniversary with a year of fundraising for The Children’s Hospital Charity!

The Children’s Hospital Charity is set to benefit from the year-long fundraising efforts of Sheffield’s PK education, a supply teacher agency.

The company, which is based on Penistone Road, is celebrating its tenth year in business throughout 2015. To mark the anniversary, staff are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity and get fit in the process!

The 29 strong team, which is based across seven offices, will be putting themselves through their paces throughout 2015, undertaking a whole host of fundraising events including the 14km Endurer Dash, The London Marathon, Tough Mudders and an ambitious million metre rowing challenge by Finance Director Neil Gallagher.

Neil said: “Doing the rowing challenge is not only a great way to get fit, something I have put off for too long, but also an excellent way to give something back and raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity. The charity challenge has really given us a focus and become a real inter office competition as to who can raise the most money. I’m looking forward to handing over a cheque at the end of our anniversary year as well as completing my personal million metre challenge.”

As well as the million metre row, fellow director Paul Gallagher, will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for The Children’s Hospital Charity.

The Children’s Hospital Charity is one of five local charities nominated by PK education’s regional offices. As well as local charities, the company is fundraising for The British Heart Foundation and has already has raised just over £700.00 following the Charity’s ‘Wear it. Beat it.’ event last month.

The Children’s Hospital Charity support and enhance the work of Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust by fundraising for research each year into the prevention and cure of childhood illnesses, new facilities to extend the range of treatment provided, Improvements to the hospital environment, and specialist medical equipment.

In 2012 The Children’s Hospital Charity launched its ‘Make it Better’ appeal to raise £10m regionally to transform Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital. The appeal will create the best possible environment for children to get better more quickly, with privacy to recover from painful surgeries. It will be delivering world-class facilities to match the world-class expertise already provided.

David Vernon-Edwards, Director of The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are always amazed by the lengths our active challenge fundraisers go to help make it better for our children – and it doesn’t get much tougher than rowing a million metres!

“All money raised by the wonderful team members at PK education will help transform the lives of the children who make over 245,000 visits to our hospital each year. Those children come from all over Yorkshire, the UK and the world to receive specialist care at our hospital. It is our mission to keep those specialist services special, and we can only do that thanks to our hard-working fundraisers.”
