Pearson targets commercial growth with new appointments

Oldham-based law firm, Pearson Solicitors, has expanded its commercial arm to bring increased resources to its property, litigation and debt recovery teams following continued growth.

The firm, which has three offices across North Manchester and employs 57 staff, has recruited Sarah Major, an expert in handling property transactions, and Carolyn Richardson to assist its commercial litigation team.

Sarah brings over 19 years’ experience of dealing with all types of conveyancing matters from Transfer of Equity, re-mortgages, sales, purchases, right to buy and new build. She is also a CIlex Graduate and a member of Manchester CIlex.

Carolyn achieved a First Class LLB in 2010 and completed her Legal Practice Course in 2012. During this time she gained extensive business experience dealing with account management, tax and VAT, employment and health and safety. She is also a student member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and is training to qualify as a Solicitor.

Christopher Burke, partner and head of the commercial litigation team at Pearson, commented: “Our ambitious growth plans are testament to the success of our specialist teams right across the company. Sarah and Carolyn have outstanding experience and we’re delighted to welcome them on board.”

Pearson’s growth follows a recent report by legal recruitment consultancy, BCL Legal, which revealed that 46 per cent of law firms across the North West have predicted an increase in turnover of between 10 and 20 per cent in 2015. Other challenges identified in the report include a lack of talent in the marketplace.

With a heritage dating back to the 1870s, Pearson Solicitors offers a complete range of legal and financial services from three offices in North Manchester. Its aim is to provide practical, professional and supportive legal advice to both private and commercial clients.
