Job Seekers step up on their success

New online magazine aims to help jobseekers hit creative heights“

After the success of NOW East Durham an online magazine created by jobseekers from Hartlepool to Peterlee, the team of talented jobseekers have moved towards a bigger endeavour, NOW North East. This will be a magazine talilored to more than just the East Durham area; it will incorporate the whole of the North East.

NOW North East will be set-up by young job seekers following on from their success with NOW East Durham and to help other jobseekers gain experience and knowledge of the industry to help them to get employed. NOW North East will be reporting on anything in the North-East whether it be events, sport or something that is positive

Enid Dalton, a job centre adviser based in Peterlee Job Centre said “Now East Durham and Jobcentre Plus formed a partnership in February 2014. Since that time, 60 jobseekers have benefited from a Work Experience placement with them. Placements offered have included; News reporters, Sales & Marketing Assistants, Web Design Assistants and Social Media Assistants. As a result of these placements, four participants secured temporary employment with Now East Durham, with several others going on to secure employment elsewhere at a later date. Jobcentre Plus and Now East Durham continue to work in partnership and continue to support young job seekers in their quest to gain valuable work experience.

Alan Sill, editor of NOW East Durham said “This will be an exciting opportunity that will be progressed and will aim to help those out of work get the experience needed to get into work.”
