Life Changing Decision to re-train
Case study
Devon Rodney - London
Office worker Devon Rodney from London made a life changing decision to re-train as a gas engineer in the hope of a better future for him and his family
Devon initially wanted to focus on furthering his skills and knowledge in management and HR but after assessing the economic outlook, and the national shortage of skilled tradespeople, he decided to take a huge leap of faith and move into a practical role
“After much deliberation my family and I visited Brookhouse Training to discuss how they could help me make this change. We were incredibly impressed, especially by the guaranteed work placement and had no hesitation in making that training commitment in Yorkshire rather than London
“I have to say I couldn’t have made it through without the hard work, dedication and care given to me by the staff, mostly from my trainer Steve Rosher; whom without his help and support I don’t know how I would have got through those tricky gas calculations
“Steve stayed back with me after class many times to ensure I understood everything required of me. He genuinely wanted not just me but the whole class to be competent and pass the ACS.
The techniques, skills and knowledge Devon now has have enabled him to carve out his own future as a self-employed gas engineer with a recent contract win working as a sub-contractor for British Gas and Worcester Bosch
“Thank you to Brookhouse Training Centre for helping me get into a new exciting career. I have been highly rated by British Gas and Worcester Bosch and now in a better position to support my family and control the life I want to live. So thank you guys for all your hard work and support, God bless.”
