Leeds Trinity University scoops Investors in People award

Following a rigorous assessment process Leeds Trinity University, one of the UK’s top universities for employability and student satisfaction, has retained its Investors in People Gold Award.

Investors in People is the UK’s leading people management standard and Leeds Trinity has been accredited since 2000, first receiving Gold status in 2012. This makes Leeds Trinity one of less than 8 per cent of Investors in People accredited organisations that hold Gold status.

To achieve the award, Leeds Trinity had to successfully fulfil an extensive assessment which focussed on the journey that the institution is now on, following the award of full University status. The Investors in People assessors examined in detail key areas such as leadership and management, staff development, staff involvement and empowerment, and performance measurement.

Assessors drew particular attention to the clear and shared understanding of the future vision and priorities for the institution demonstrated by staff at all levels.

Speaking about receiving the accolade, Professor Margaret House, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said: “I’m really pleased that the University has once again received a Gold award from Investors in People.

“This award is testament to our outstanding university staff community and builds upon the original Investors in People Gold accreditation that we achieved in 2012.

“More than 40 colleagues, from a range of departments, were interviewed as part of the assessment and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who did so.

“This is a fantastic endorsement of what we have achieved thus far and stands us in good stead as we seek to build for the future.

“Our main priority has always been to empower and encourage our students and staff members and the Investors in People Gold award is clear recognition of this achievement.”

As part of the assessment, Leeds Trinity University had to meet 165 criteria points covering leadership and management, staff development, staff involvement and performance, in order to achieve this status.

Steve Burrows, Managing Director of Investors in People North of England, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Leeds Trinity University and I would like to congratulate the team on their success.

“We believe that good people make a great business, and as a proven organisational development framework, Investors in People is designed to help organisations and their people to realise potential, enhance performance and meet goals.

“With their Gold accreditation, Leeds Trinity is certainly working to realise their people potential.”

Helen Burke, Investors in People assessor, adds: “Leeds Trinity University has successfully continued to build on the original foundations of its Investors in People accreditation. The Vice-Chancellor’s inspirational leadership has ensured that people have a clear understanding of future vision and priorities for the Institution and clearly recognise the contribution that they can personally make to successful achievement of these aspirational goals.”

Investors in People is a management framework for high performance through people. Their prestigious accreditation is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence.
