Accountants to take on challenge for cancer charity

Accountants to take on three peaks challenge for children’s cancer charity

50 accountants from across Yorkshire sign up for charity challenge

Around 50 ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) members and students from across Yorkshire will come together to complete the Yorkshire three peaks challenge on 23 May. They will all be raising money for children’s cancer charity Candle Lighters.

Yorkshire’s members and students are looking for more volunteers willing to take on the challenge and help raise money – whether or not you are an accountant.

Mark Laine-Toner, chair of ACCA’s West Yorkshire members’ network, said: “We wanted to do something that showed the lighter side of the profession but we also wanted something that would take us out of our comfort zones. Everyone agreed that Candle Lighters was such a worthy charity. They do outstanding work with children and their families who are affected by cancer.

“We are aiming for each of our members and students to raise at least £175. If we can hit that target we should be able to donate at least £8,750 to Candle Lighters. Hopefully we can sign up a few more willing volunteers between now and the challenge and we can push the amount up to £10,000. Anyone is welcome to join us, the more people we can get the more we can raise.”

Entry fee for the challenge is just £25 and is open to anyone. The fee covers full support from marshals and volunteers, snacks and refreshments, a goodie bag, t-shirt and a GPS time chip to record your personal time.
