Students Experience the Theatre of English
A group of Year 10 English students who are new to the country were treated to not just the splendour of Bradford Alhambra but The Olivier Award winning production the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
As part of their English lessons students attended the play about a 15 year old boy who works to solve the mystery of the gruesome death of a neighbour’s dog. His detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world
Reissa Hindmarch, English teacher form Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College says: “The students had a brilliant time. For most it was the first time they had been to the theatre, so this was a new experience for them, and a great way to learn
“We even received a compliment from a member of the audience to say how polite the children were – it makes you feel very proud when someone goes out of their way to pass on feedback like that.
English is an additional language for these year 10 students, taking them to the theatre formed part of improving their knowledge and understanding of the use of spoken English in a variety of settings.
