Preston's College Celebrates Recruitment Success

Preston’s College has seen a record number of learner sign-ups during a week-long recruitment drive, inviting students from across the county to enrol onto courses at the College.

More than 200 potential learners attended its Apprenticeship Careers Fair on Tuesday 12th May, where they met more than 15 regional employers to learn about more than 60 Apprenticeship vacancies available in the local area.

Appealing to current students and school leavers alike, the event proved a huge success with a record number of employers receiving applications for their Apprenticeship vacancies.

One employer who attended the event, Daniel Grinsted, is the recruitment manager at Preston-based KR Group. He said: “We had 24 students register their interest in vacancies with us and 11 specific enquiries about IT.

“We are delighted with the level of engagement and conversation held at our stand with current Preston’s College students and year 11s from across the area.”

Other partner employers including Fairpoint, Direct Group Ltd, Lancashire Apprenticeship Hub, Premier Inn and TPS Publishing were also in attendance on the evening.

Enrolment events for other subject areas of the college have also taken place this week allowing learners to secure their place ahead of the summer months.

The events, which took place on Monday (11 May), Wednesday (13 May) and Thursday (14 May) at the In-Zone, saw hundreds of students come and enrol onto courses they had applied for, ranging from A Levels to Health 7 Social care.

Andrew Richardson, head of recruitment at Preston’s College, commented: “The series of recruitment events this week have proved to be a huge success. Due to popular demand surrounding our new £13m iSTEM Centre and innovative provision, we would encourage anyone thinking about enrolling with us to come along to our next early enrolment session on 17th June to secure their places before main enrolment.

“We believe in making all our learners the most employable they can be. With extremely strong links to businesses, we understand the importance of equipping our learners with the skills and experience required to not only get their foot in the door in the workplace, but ensure their long-term success in their future careers.”

Preston’s College will hold another course enrolment session on Wednesday 17 June from 4pm – 7pm inside the new £13m iSTEM Centre. This will not only give students the chance to enrol onto the innovative STEM provision, but also look into the array of other courses offered at the College.
