Job availability in North West dips by 7%
Venn Group Contract Recruitment Index
June 2015
Contract Recruitment Index highlights
- There was a 7% fall in jobs month-on-month
- Business information roles boosting health trusts’ efficiency drives
- Legal and finance sectors benefit from booming property market
Regional demand for professional talent dips
The May 2015 North West Recruitment Index recorded a 7% month-on-month fall in job availability with 3,069 vacancies advertised, compared to 3,300 in April 2015.
Stan Murray Hession, Director of Venn Group, commented:
“The slight overall dip in employment activity this month can be attributed to organic fluctuations in demand. However, we have seen an unprecedented rise in business information roles – especially within the health sector’s acute trusts as they strive to streamline their processes by incorporating new, innovative technologies. Following recent NHS staff shortages, demand has boomed for professionals who can look internally for the root causes of these problems, and how to solve them. Because of this, those working within these teams – particularly business information analysts with solid experience of making efficiency savings – are being snapped up across the region.”
Contractors’ rates experience slight dip
The average rate for those securing jobs in May 2015 has fallen since our last Index, with contractors now receiving an average of £228 per day across the region.
Stan Murray Hession continued:
“The North West has seen a huge rise in its property market, reflected in the UK’s house price increases peaking within the region. This trend is translating to the commercial property market as well as businesses from all over the country looking to secure office space in fast-developing city centres. As a result, we have placed a multitude of roles within the legal and financial services sectors, which continue to show strong signs of growth.”
