Taylor&Emmet team reaches all time high

Taylor&Emmet LLP is proving there is strength in numbers, after staff levels at the Sheffield solicitors surpassed 200 for the first time in its 130 year history.

The firm has created nine jobs in the last two months alone and is expecting this growth to continue, as it looks to fulfil 12 existing vacancies, some of which are also new roles.

Taylor&Emmet’s recruitment drive is in response to increasing interest in its personal and business legal services. Its residential conveyancing team in particular is experiencing a significant rise in demand, resulting in the appointment of an entirely new team, due to start in August, comprising a solicitor, legal assistant and secretary.

Staff numbers were boosted in January last year by Taylor&Emmet’s merger with longstanding Bakewell firm, Cockertons, which has increased the services available to Peak District residents and enhanced the profile of both brands. This was followed by the creation of a further 13 new positions during the 2014/15 financial year.

Sharna Poxon, Taylor&Emmet’s human resources manager, said: “Since 2011, we have seen our rate of recruitment pick up in line with market forces and this organic growth has gained momentum in the last 18 months. We are recognised as a progressive, inclusive place to work and actively promote career development at all levels. In the last 12 months we made 22 internal promotions, some into new roles, again creating opportunities to expand our team.”

Taylor&Emmet has 203 employees, of which 81% are female and 19% male. The firm remains loyal to its local roots and approximately 90% of its workforce lives within the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire communities it serves.
