Lodders raises thousands to help charity Cobalt

Natalie Smith, a solicitor at Lodders in Cheltenham, has single-handedly raised more than £3,000 for the town’s leading medical charity, Cobalt.

In April, Natalie, an associate in the firm’s private client team, donated her time for free to draft straightforward Wills for Cobalt members through the charity’s annual ‘Make a Will Month’ in April.

“Cobalt is a charity very close to my heart as it has supported some of my own family and friends,” explained Natalie, who specialises in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate and tax planning, and is a fully qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

“I have seen first-hand the team’s amazing work, its ground-breaking facilities and cutting-edge technology, which delivers high quality diagnosis not available routinely within the NHS or private sectors.

“Cobalt provides an important service in Cheltenham and more widely across Gloucestershire and the region,” she added. “In particular, it has been a major NHS partner in establishing the Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital and other health care facilities, such as the £5.1 million, all digital, Thirlestaine Breast Centre at Cobalt House.”

Founded in 1964, Cobalt helps in disease prevention, research, treatment and diagnosis. It is recognised for making a real difference to the quality of life and the outcomes for those affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions.

“These initiatives, while raising money for charity, also help Lodders to raise awareness of the importance of making wills and encourage more people to do so,” Natalie said.
