Billingham-based firm supports growth with apprenticeship drive
RPD Builders has given two youngsters the perfect opportunity to get onto the construction career ladder.
The Billingham-based firm, which achieved £1m turnover in the last year, in conjunction with Stockton Riverside College, has taken on Nathan Tonks and James Dodsworth as an apprentice electrician and bricklayer, respectively.
School friends Nathan, 16, and James, 16, both attended St Michaels Academy in Billingham and will begin their apprenticeships in the summer before attending college in September.
The apprenticeships come on the back of the company appointing Katie Davison to the role of Client Liaison Officer, in June.
Peter Davison, Owner of RPD Builders, said: “I firmly believe in creating opportunities for young people and, following the growth of the company over the last year, this has allowed us to welcome Nathan and James to the business. By giving them both hands-on experience to learn a trade, together with an education, this will help with their progression, allowing them to start their dream careers and help take RPD Builders forward in the future.
“It is an exciting time for RPD Builders, after achieving record turnover earlier this year together with this recent raft of appointments, and we are on track for even further growth and expansion. During the economic downturn, we were unable to take on apprentices, so being able to take on two now is fantastic. We are looking forward to Nathan and James becoming part of the team.”
Established in 2001 by Peter Davison, an experienced builder and site manager, RPD Builders is a building and construction firm and its expertise ranges from domestic house modifications, such as extensions and conversions, to commercial projects of almost any scope or size. The firm has worked with numerous clients throughout the whole of the North East.
