Full steam ahead for Grand Central in York office move

Bilfinger GVA has acted on behalf of Grand Central Railway Company Limited to relocate the company’s head office in York.

The commercial property consultancy has advised Grand Central, which operates trains between London and the North of England, on its move to 5,844 sq ft of office space on the 3rd floor Northern House on Rougier Street, close to York Station.

The office is also home to other rail occupiers such as Northern Rail and Network Rail, as well as engineering company Atkins.

Grand Central has re-located from River House, Museum Street in York, where it has been situated for 8 years. The company decided to change its location in order to be situated in modern office space that is central to York but in close proximity to York Station and its fellow operators.

Mark Robinson, Finance Director at Grand Central, said: “When our current lease came to an end it was vital that we move to modern office premises in the centre of York. Northern House is in the perfect location, giving us easy access to both the railway station and our industry partners such as Network Rail and Northern.”

Matthew Tootell, director in Bilfinger GVA’s Leeds office team, said: “Modern Grade A space is becoming increasingly difficult to find in York City centre, so it was a rare opportunity for Grand Central to move into this space, which suits its needs perfectly.”
