Castletown’s new dental practice opens to the public

The Tracey Bell Castletown Dental Practice officially opened its doors in July, and the team have been overwhelmed by the response from local residents. Celebrating the success of the practice’s first month, Registered Dental Nurse, Wendy Mahon, said: “Business is certainly booming with over 100 new registrations and lots of demand for our offer of a free appointment with our dental hygienist.”

Giovanni Marras is the new Dentist in Residence. Hailing from Italy, Giovanni’s particular area of interest is Periodontal (Gum) Disease. In some studies, researchers have observed that people with gum disease (when compared to people without gum disease) were more likely to develop heart disease or have difficulty controlling blood sugar. Other studies have shown that women with gum disease were more likely than those with healthy gums to deliver premature, low birth weight babies.

Given the link between healthy gums and teeth and maintaining patients’ overall health, the team at the Tracey Bell Castletown Dental Practice have a firm focus on preventing the development of gum disease through regular sessions with the hygienist. The team are also passionate about educating patients of all ages about how to look after their teeth and about the positive impact that good dentistry can have on people’s lives.

Wendy Mahon said: “Our aim is to bring a small practice serving the local community back to Castletown and to focus on establishing trust, offering our patients the treatments they need, and educating people. We already get 80% of our new patients through the door as a result of word-of-mouth recommendations and that’s just the way we like it. In Castletown, news travels fast and we’re very proud to have had such excellent feedback from our patients already.”

Castletown Dental Practice is run by Giovanni Marras, Wendy Mahon, Kelly Kearsley and Jasmin Skillcorn. The practice has offers on all types of dentistry, with opening offers including: all examinations and routine treatments for just £50.

The clinic’s address is: 12 Malew Street, Castletown, Isle of Man, IM9 1AB. Call: 805 230 for details or visit: www.traceybell.co.uk
