Professional Liverpool membership reaches new high

Membership figures at Merseyside-based Professional Liverpool have hit a new high, with the organisation growing by 10% in the last 12 months.

Launched to promote the Liverpool area’s financial and professionals sector, the organisation now has over 220 member companies employing 7,000 individuals.

The upsurge in membership means the organisation’s overheads are now covered by subscriptions and events.

A recent report titled Beyond the City suggested that the North will drive growth of 14% in the professional services between now and 2020, with around 330k jobs set to be created in the sector, across the UK, over the next five years.

Professional Liverpool’s chief executive, John Hall, said: “We certainly hope that many of these jobs will be created in the Liverpool city region.

“Our role as a voice for the financial and professional sector has continued to grow and evolve as we not only host events with high-profile local and national speakers but take on a wider lobbying role promoting the economic interests of the city region nationally.

“For example, we are working with both Liverpool Vision and the Local Enterprise Partnership on a ‘North shoring’ campaign to encourage businesses mainly from London and the South East to relocate all or part of their business here.”

John added: “It would allow them to enjoy lower rents and salaries, a lifestyle which is the envy of many, and to take advantage of the skilled workforce we have here, fed constantly by the high class of graduates from our fine city universities.”

In September the head of AIM, the sub-market of the London Stock Exchange, will address Professional Liverpool members at an event held at Victoria Gallery and Museum, University of Liverpool.
