St Helens real estate group secures consent for new Worksop logistics development

Network Space, a commercial and real estate group based in the North West, has managed to secure outline planning consent on a new logistics scheme in Nottinghamshire that could create 1,200 jobs.

The firm, which is headquartered in St Helens, received a thumbs up for the development in Worksop and could spark up to £100m of investment for the region.

The first phase of the 130-acre site between J31 of the M1 and the A1/A57 junction, near existing Wilko and B&Q distribution centres, will see 60 acres developed for general industrial, storage and distribution purposes, in addition to new access from the A57.

Network Space Developments’ MD, Stephen Barnes, said: “Having worked closely with Bassetlaw District Council to deliver this consent we are delighted to now take forward a significant logistics and industrial scheme in a great location that will provide exciting local employment opportunities.

“The site is available immediately with minimal off-site works required. We have a first-rate and experienced professional team in place with the ability to deliver buildings as early as Q1 2017.”

Set to be offered on a design-and-build basis, the site will target companies looking for buildings that offer between 50,000 sq ft and 1,000,000 sq ft of space.

Bassetlaw District Council’s deputy leader Jo White, who is the Cabinet member for regeneration, said: “Any development that will bring investment to our region and boost the jobs market will be welcomed in Bassetlaw, should the planning conditions be right.

“The council’s Regeneration and Investment and Planning teams have worked closely with Network Space to provide them with support and guidance through this initial part of the development.”

She added: “This is fantastic news and not only will this bring a welcome jobs boost but it shows that big businesses are prepared to invest in North Nottinghamshire.”
