Business is booming at Barnsley’s Digital Media Centre

Businesses based at Barnsley’s Digital Media Centre have experienced a period of significant growth.

Egress, an international provider of email and file encryption services and software, relocated to the creative and digital hub in 2013 after expanding its London offices to Barnsley.

After having instant success since the move, Egress has outgrown its office twice in two years and now employs 34.

Egress achieved more than 100% year-on-year growth in sales bookings, new customer acquisition, significant upselling to existing customers and a 100% renewal rate of existing subscriptions.

John Goodyear, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, said: “We’ve had an extremely busy year seeing considerable business growth across the UK and North America.

“We needed a larger office to house our ever expanding team of developers, support and technical services engineers and knew straight away that we wanted to stay within the Digital Media Centre.

“The offices are of fantastic quality and the staff really go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need.”

Along with Egress seeing great success is video production company Visualised it, which moved into bigger office space this month after securing contracts for the television industry to film and edit broadcast content and TV adverts.

The Digital Media Centre has been headquarters to Visualised it since 2013 and has seen the business expand from a team of two to six this year.

“This month saw our second birthday and to mark the occasion we delivered personalised buns and cakes to the other businesses in the centre. Being so close to lots of other businesses is a real advantage for networking and developing new business.”
