Teacher and entrepreneur launches educ8academy
Teacher and entrepreneur Dr Kiran Peart has launched a private tutoring centre to provide youngsters with the confidence and ability to reach their full potential.
The educ8academy at Deane Church Centre, Bolton, opens in September offering affordable Saturday morning study sessions for youngsters aged between five and 16.
Taught in small groups of between one and six children, lessons will be offered in English, maths and science. The academy will also provide support for school entrance examinations, including the 11+.
Dr Peart will work in conjunction with students’ mainstream schools to provide appropriate complementary support. Parents will be given reassuring reports of their children’s progress.
A teacher and lecturer for 15 years, Dr Peart also has specialist experience in supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
She strongly believes that children can thrive academically when provided with individual support to achieve educational goals set by themselves and their parents.
Dr Peart says her decision to launch the educ8academy was partly inspired by a desire to follow the entrepreneurial example set by her parents, who ran a number of successful businesses in the textile sector.
“My parents arrived here in the UK from the Punjab area of India and took a chance in establishing their own businesses,” says Dr Peart, 40, who has two children of her own and lives in Bolton.
“I’m excited to be able to follow in their footsteps with a business which will enable more young people to benefit from my experience in education.
“Every student should be given both the confidence and the opportunity to reach their own unique potential at their own pace.”
Dr Peart is investing her own money into the start-up education venture.
She added: “By monitoring the progress of each individual child and working in partnership with their school, I am certain that we can help youngsters to become more confident and reach their full potential.
“I am fortunate to have a unique academic perspective, accumulated over 15 years in both mainstream and special education and as a university and college lecturer.
“This perspective has enabled me to recognise and cater for students from a wide variety of backgrounds including those with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, gifted and talented students and young people with medical needs.
“I know that patience, understanding, compassion and the ability to listen can make a real difference to learners at all levels.
“I am passionate about providing high quality education and helping students to be the very best they can be in a safe and stimulating learning environment.”
The academy will initially employ two teachers, including Dr Peart.
Lessons with educ8academy cost £20 per hour for a minimum run of six lessons.
