Shoosmiths builds on regional brand with latest Legal 500 rankings

National law firm Shoosmiths is celebrating after its Manchester office secured six new rankings in the latest Legal 500 directory, with the branch’s head labelled a ’leading ‘individual’.

Shoosmiths’ Manchester branch, located on Hardman Street in the Spinningfields area of the city, now has 14 practice area rankings, with the new additions being media and entertainment, intellectual property, commercial litigation, insolvency and corporate recovery, planning and private client: family.

Additionally, the head of the firm’s Manchester office, Harold Brako, was singled out in the report as a leader amongst the banking litigation lawyers based in the city. In total, 21 legal advisers from the office received individual recommendations.

Commenting on the rankings, Harold Brako said: “The new rankings are testament to our continued commitment to bringing in the very best legal talent in the region.

“We look forward to building our presence in the directory year on year as our teams grow and Shoosmiths continues to build its brand in the North West.”

Last year, Shoosmiths shored up its stake in the city’s creative and digital sectors with the appointment of Laura Harper to lead the firm’s developing intellectual property and creative industries team.

Elsewhere, the Legal 500 ranking referred to the Manchester office’s commercial property team as a ‘highly rated department’, calling it ‘commercial and responsive’.
