Manchester Metropolitan University invites small and medium firms to raise their digital marketing skills

Two new digital marketing courses, developed by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and industry partners, will help small and medium sized (SME) firms to become more digitally proficient and get the most out of their marketing budgets.

The M2L (Managers 2 Leaders) Digital Marketing programme, delivered by MMU’s Centre for Enterprise and Digital Innovation Hub, is specially tailored for marketers within SMEs.

Starting this October, the five month part-time course will focus on topics such as digital strategy; project and campaign management; SEO, social media and analytics; customer targeting, branding and market research.

A second new course, Digital Marketing for Business Owners, covers topics such as social media, website development and analytics, and how to get the most from internal and external marketing teams. It starts this November and will consist of practical workshops pitched at a level to suit the individuals taking part.

The courses will be taught by MMU’s digital specialists and top industry professionals.

Professor Lynn Martin, Director of the Manchester Metropolitan University Centre for Enterprise, said: “These courses aren’t about dry marketing theory or digital buzzwords, they’re about integrating digital marketing into the business and will take a practical approach to understanding the tools and strategy of digital marketing. Peer-to-peer learning is central to both programmes, giving the students an opportunity to step back from their day-to-day work and share experience with other like-minded people.”

She continued: “Digital marketing is becoming more important to the success of small businesses, but our market research shows that many marketers and business owners feel that they need to extend their skills and knowledge to take advantage of new opportunities.”
