County Durham hotel is blooming lovely

A COUNTY DURHAM hotel is celebrating after being named as the Hotel of the Year by Northumbria In Bloom.

Ramside Hall Hotel on the outskirts of Durham has been awarded a gold medal by the organisation for the past five years, but has now gone one better by scooping the top award.

The hotel – which is set in 350 acres of grounds – is renowned for its stunning gardens and hanging baskets, along with its long flower beds.

“We are absolutely delighted to have won the main award,” said John Adamson, owner of Ramside Hall Hotel.

“The gardens are very important to us and we have a team who spend their time looking after them.

“We have been recognised by Northumbria in Bloom with a gold award every year that we’ve entered but it’s fantastic to have been named the overall hotel winner.”

The hotel also features 120 hanging baskets with flowers which are grown at Ramside’s sister hotel, Hardwick Hall near Sedgefield, own market garden.

“We’re very proud that this is also acknowledgement for our gardens at Hardwick Hall which provide all the flowers for Ramside,” said Mr Adamson.

This is the latest accolade for the hotel which has just completed a £16m development which includes a new wing of rooms, a second championship golf course and a state-of-the-art spa.
