Leeds College of Music gains AIM accreditation

Leeds College of Music is renowned for the specialised courses it provides for its students, but it has now gained recognition for its ability to provide an excellent conference venue. As part of this, the college has recently been awarded the Accredited in Meetings (AIM) status to reflect its capability to operate as a venue and service provider in the meetings, conferences and events industry.

AIM is the UK’s nationally recognised standard for venues that operate to a predetermined industry benchmarked level. Achieving this accolade highlights Leeds College of Music as having the processes and personnel in place that are competent and capable, and also that the venue facilities are appropriate and operationally compliant with all the relevant legislation.

Leeds College of Music is the 19th AIM accredited venue in Leeds, positioned alongside the Royal Armouries, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Leeds City Museum to name a few. All of these high-quality venues work together to deliver the ConferenceLeeds city-wide conferencing proposition, which offers a truly unique experience to delegates through its collaborative approach with venues and key industry speakers.

Head of Events & Enterprise at Leeds College of Music, Dr Paul Abbott said “The powerful thing for us about achieving the accreditation is that we set ourselves against a national benchmark for meetings and conference venues, demonstrating that we are up to the high standard expected of professional meetings managers.”

The college boasts a 350-seat auditorium to provide a flexible and inviting space that can accommodate conferences, debates, formal presentations, auditions, TV screenings and key business meetings. The college also has nine meeting rooms as well as an additional nine break out rooms, which allows the college to flex up and down to welcome a variety of bookings.

Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Judith Blake, said: “Now that Leeds College of Music has this accreditation under its belt, it will have better visibility for those wanting to book a venue in Leeds. The city is an exciting place to be in at the moment with increasing investment and development, which is set to continue in 2016. It’s great to see that the college has joined our growing number of AIM accredited venues in Leeds.”

Leeds proudly offers over 250 conference venues for hire in the West Yorkshire area including unique venues such as the first direct arena and Northern Ballet. What’s more, Leeds is the only city outside of London to have four Gold AIM accredited venues and has 19 AIM accredited venues in total.
