Yorkshire cable cleat manufacturer increases global presence with Philippines order

Malton-based Ellis, the global cable cleat manufacturer, has increased its worldwide presence after receiving an order from the Czech offices of ABB for an installation in the Philippines.

A bespoke variation of Ellis’ Emperor cable cleat was specified by ABB in Prague to secure electrical power cables throughout the San Gabriel Avion open cycle gas turbine plant, which is currently being built in the Bolbok area of Batangas City.

Tomáš Salon, an electrical balance of plant (EBoP) engineer for ABB, revealed the reasons for choosing the specification from Ellis was due to positive past experiences with the company, Emperor’s reliable design and the fact it was “easier to assemble than other similar products”.

Designed for use where the highest levels of short circuit withstand are required, Ellis’ Emperor cleats are available for both trefoil and single cable applications.

All products in the range are manufactured in type 316L stainless steel, meaning they provide ultimate corrosion protection.

Emperor cleats also extend to a patented design, and a LSF zero halogen polymeric liner and base pad that protects and cushions cables during short circuit conditions.

Ellis’ global standing is strengthened by a worldwide network of local distributors. Currently numbering 30, the network helps ensure Ellis is always considered for specification for every major power, oil and gas, and infrastructure project, no matter where the location.

Tony Conroy, Ellis’ export sales director, said: “When it comes to cable cleats we are the world leader, and Emperor is very much the linchpin of our product portfolio. It’s tried, tested and trusted, and every new specification it helps to secure serves to strengthen both its position and ours.”
