Chichester dental surgery expands with RBS funding

Grange Dental Surgery has created capacity to enhance its hygienist side of the business by expanding into new premises in Chichester to create The Dental Hygiene Centre, thanks to loan facilities provided by The Royal Bank of Scotland.

The West Sussex dental surgery’s expansion was prompted by new regulatory guidelines that allow hygienists to have direct access to patients for the first time and will assist the surgery’s annual turnover and profitability.

Paul Cassar is a fully-qualified dentist and has been running the Grange for 22 years in the town, supported by his wife Wendy, who has been practising as a hygienist at the surgery.

The new premises will permit Wendy to focus on better oral health care and quality patient care. A receptionist and two new nurses roles have been created to support Wendy on a day to day basis.

The Royal Bank of Scotland provided costs to purchase the lease and allow a high spec refurbishment to complete at the new premises, just two doors away from their existing surgery on West Street. A cash injection from the husband and wife team has also supported this latest venture.

Paul Cassar, director of Grange Dental Surgery, said: “Our bookings for the hygienist side of the business is always booked up six months in advance and we were finding, as we were at full capacity, that we could justify this expansion. It is important for us to encourage people in Chichester to change their approach to oral health and we feel this one to one service will help us achieve this.”

Michael McKernan, relationship manager at The Royal Bank of Scotland, added, “We were approached to support Paul and Wendy’s next phase of expansion and pleased we could play a positive role in securing new premises and enhancing their overall offering towards improving oral health for their growing patient numbers.”
