Emily Berry and Dean Waterworth, Assembly Rooms

Newcastle’s Assembly Rooms has revealed new, key appointments as the venue prepares to celebrate its 240th birthday.

Emily Berry has been appointed as sales and marketing executive, responsible for new business development. The 26-year-old from Wideopen joins the business following a successful executive role in the region which saw her promoted to management, as well as a short spell in Cyprus.

Emily said: “Since graduating from university in 2013 and gaining valuable experience in the industry, I was ready to take the next step in my career and relished the opportunity to become part of the team at one of the most iconic venues in the city.”

The business has also strengthened its team with the promotion of Dean Waterworth from operations manager to functions and events manager. Dean, 25, who lives in Gateshead, is responsible for the running of all events being hosted at the venue.

Dean said: “I discovered my passion for the hospitality industry when I was a teenager waiting tables in a local hotel. This led to me going on to study hospitality and tourism management at university and since then, enjoy a variety of roles within the industry.”

Ian Worgan, Story Homes North East

A Managing Director has been appointed to head up Story Homes’ North East operations.

In a new role for the company Ian Worgan will oversee the Story Homes’ growth in the North East region from its Newcastle regional head office. Ian, who has joined from Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire where he worked for 12 years, took up the post this week.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining such a vibrant and growing company and I look forward to my role developing the business in the North East. Story Homes is a growing business with a great product. The culture of a proud family business is a good fit with the ideals I hold close.”

Alice Kennedy, Four Housing

Alice Kennedy, 23, from Berwick has joined Four Housing’s nine-strong asset management team. In a newly created role, Alice will have a responsibility for inspecting properties in the Berwick area, as well as overseeing planned maintenance works and responding to tenant requests.

Alice said: “I’m really enjoying all aspects of the job so far. I love working as part of the wider asset management team and getting to liaise with tenants and contractors face to face.

“Each tenant has different needs and circumstances, so you have to be able to adapt and think on your feet and I’m really relishing that responsibility. I know the Berwick area really well having grown up here and I like the fact that I’m making a difference to my own community.”

Jacksons

North East Law Firm Jacksons has announced a raft of new appointments.

Jessica Clark and Daniel Tumilty, both law graduates from Newcastle University and Northumbria University respectively, have joined as paralegals..

Kirsten Hurst has been appointed as assistant solicitor in the family team in Newcastle and will be assisting head of department, Susanne Shah in all family matters.

Paralegal, Charlotte Walker, recently graduated from the University of Law in Leeds and is the latest member of staff to be recruited into the litigation department. Lauren Smith, who graduated from Northumbria University after studying law, has also been appointed as trainee and is currently assisting the company and commercial department.

Karen Robinson joins the firm as marketing manager and will manage all of the marketing activity for the firm in the Newcastle and Stockton offices.

Helen Robinson, Mincoffs

Newcastle based Law Firm Mincoffs Solicitors has added a new Solicitor appointment to its Wills and Probate department

Helen Robinson joins the firm having previously worked at two large regional firms in Yorkshire since qualifying in 2008.

“I am delighted to be joining the Mincoffs team at such an exciting time and look forward to getting know Mincoffs’ existing and new clients”, said Helen.

Mincoffs have also recently appointed Northumbria Law School graduate, Daniel Bell as a Trainee Solicitor.

John Simmons, Wolf Group

Wolf Group today announced the appointment of a new technical architect.

John Simmons has been hired as a technical architect at Wolf Group, a leading software house based in the North East. In joining, John will now take a leading role in analysing business critical processes on a key project targeted at developing mobile workforce systems for one of Wolf Group’s key clients, who operate in the fast paced utilities sector.

John said: “I’m pleased to be joining the team at such an exciting time in the company’s development and can’t wait to use some of my insight and experience to get my teeth into new projects.”

Sean Donkin, The Inn Collection Group

The Inn Collection Group (ICG) has promoted Sean Donkin to Operations Director of the fast-growing North East hospitality and leisure group.

Sean, who joined the company in 2008 as general manager of the Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses, has risen to director level from his previous post as the group’s Operations Manager.

He will be responsible for directing operations and developments at the group, which employs 200 people. In particular, Sean will be heavily involved in the expansion of the group, which has just added The Seaton Lane Inn in County Durham to its portfolio and announced plans for a new build unit on the Northumberland coast.

ICG CEO Keith Liddell said: “Sean has proven himself to be the man for the job at this exciting time in our development, as we increase our presence in the market and eye up further potential targets to add to the Inn Collection Group.”
