Wright Hassall takes to the saddle for charity Tour de Law

The annual Tour de Law, the UK’s biggest legal charity cycling event, has finished with its closest ever result and more cyclists than ever before.

Leamington-based Wright Hassall came fourth beating off competition from some of the largest law firms in the UK and cycled 1,403.79km over two days (21km further than last year).

Tour de Law is the annual inter-law firm cycling race that raises money for Breast Cancer Care and by the end of the race, the event had already raised over £47,000 across the UK with more than double that expected to be raised in total.

Now in its fourth year, the event brings together the UK’s top law firms to race against each other over 1,000km, virtually cycling the distance of London to Paris and back again on Wattbikes.

All funds raised from Tour de Law go towards Breast Cancer Care, the UK’s only nationwide breast cancer support charity, to help them be there for people who are diagnosed, every day, from day one.

The legal sector has a history of supporting the charity and this year’s event was the most watched – with over 19,000 people following the live racing results online.

Nick Abell, senior partner at Wright Hassall, said: “Tour de Law is a fantastic event which we were delighted to be involved in.

“Our team put some really good shifts in and to finish fourth was a great effort! The most important end result was raising a vast amount of money for Breast Cancer Care, and it’s brilliant the Tour de Law has been a huge success on that score yet again.”

Alongside Wright Hassall, over 3,500 legal professionals, from 23 offices, all across the UK, took part in this year’s event including Addleshaw Goddard, Ashurst, Bristows, Co-Operative Legal Services, Devonshires, Eversheds, Farrer & Co, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills, Latham & Watkins, Memery Crystal, Proskauer Rose, Sidley Austin, Simmons & Simmons, Stevens & Bolton, Wedlake Bell, Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Wiggin and Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
