New general manager at Marriott Victoria & Albert

Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel is welcoming a new General Manager - who promises to oversee another productive era for the landmark property.

Italian-born Federico Ciampi has just taken over the historic, 148-bedroom former warehouse and says he can’t wait to make an impression.

The 29-year-old will oversee all aspects of operations at the city centre destination and says he hopes to introduce a new generation of travellers to the global hotel brand.

A highly experienced manager, he has spent 17 years in the industry working at luxury properties in destinations including Dubai and London.

Formerly manager of London’s Academy Hotel, he joins the company from the Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh.

Speaking about his plans he said he intends to make the most of the hotel’s superb location and win new leisure and business guests, in what is a highly competitive market.

Frederico explained: “We are in a great location, with Spinningfields on our doorstep and we want to help guests discover more about this side of the city. Manchester is one of the fastest growing economies in the UK and there is so much for visitors to discover – sports, entertainment and shopping, to name a few.

“The Marriott brand is one of the most recognised in the world and we can help today’s travellers feel at home and looked after, taking care of every aspect of their stay and allowing them to focus on enjoying and exploring the city.

“With that in mind I’ll be working hard to ensure our strategy is driven towards customer satisfaction and profitability.

“Developing our staff, is another key area and I’ll be looking at every area from entry level to management. I also plan to work closely with the city’s universities to speak to students and arrange placements to showcase the industry.”
