Balham nursery franchise launches thanks to RBS support

Balham Rainbow Children’s Day Nursery has established a new Evolution Childcare franchise business in South London to meet the growing demands of providing families with first-class childcare.

The Royal Bank of Scotland has provided £77,000 set up costs alongside an equal cash injection from Director, Steve Wood.

This franchise business is already showing signs of growth as Evolution Childcare provides franchisees, like Steve, with a credible business model to roll out across the UK. Evolution Childcare has supported 11 franchisees to date.

Balham Rainbow nursery has evolved after an extensive refurbishment at their premises on Ramsden Road, and has created a child friendly environment with two beautiful open plan nursery rooms and an outdoor play area.

Initially four roles have been created to support Steve on a day to day basis, including: a Nursery Manager, Room Manager and two Nursery Practitioners. This will increase as the nursery reaches full capacity at 46 spaces for children aged three months to five years.

Steve Wood, Director of Balham Rainbow children’s day nursery, explains: “I did my research on franchise options and felt drawn to the concept Evolution Childcare was providing. I felt that between us we could replicate the fantastic experience my wife and I had with our own children’s nursery.

“I was lucky enough to have a workplace nursery which reduced the stress of managing the work-life balance dramatically. One of the key ambitions of our business is to help parents as much as possible to be part of their children’s day care, whilst still holding down full-time jobs.”

Steve experienced redundancy in his previous role at a software company, allowing him the opportunity to embark on a franchise he felt was not only a challenge, but one that would provide him with a significant return on his investment, and to make a contribution towards nurturing the next generation.

He continued: “We have worked hard to reconfigure an existing building into a safe place that is equipped with disabled facilities, fire proofing and detection systems, and above all an environment where the children can learn, interact and explore. All of this has been achieved with The Royal Bank of Scotland on board.”

Paul Barnes, Senior Healthcare Manager at The Royal Bank of Scotland, added: “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the bank and pleased we could support a local franchisee with his new business venture. Steve is an ambitious individual who will no doubt learn a lot from establishing Balham Rainbow nursery and expand this brand further across South London.”
