Leeds owner has ban put on hold amid appeal process
Following the announcement of Massimo Cellino’s Football League ban last month, the Leeds United owner’s disqualification from being an owner or director at the club has been put on hold.
After being found guilty of an offence under Italian tax legislation, Cellino’s ban has been suspended until his appeal is heard by a league arbitration panel. A date for said hearing is yet to be confirmed.
Appealing against the suspension on October 28, the owner had asked for the proposed ban to only take effect after the appeal process. In turn, The Football League has confirmed the Italian’s wishes.
Cellino assumed control of the club in April 2014 and has been involved in a string of controversies and managerial mishaps since walking through the doors at Elland Road.
