Challenger law firm gunnercooke appoints 100th partner
Leading challenger law firm gunnercooke has reached the 100 partner milestone, doubling its headcount from October 2014. The innovative firm is again set to double in size by the end of 2016, maintaining its place as one of the fastest growing firms in the UK legal sector and a working model of choice for senior lawyers with over 10,000 hours practising experience.
The reason for such rapid expansion? “We place a huge emphasis on the culture we’re building for our lawyers,” explains founder Darryl Cooke. “It is our responsibility to support everyone in the business to achieve their full potential. This is our reason for existence. We invest in them as business people and as equals. It makes sense that happier people deliver better service to clients, so our vision is centred solely on developing an environment where that happens – and it leads to great results.”
Founded in 2010, gunnercooke has evolved from a solely corporate and private equity boutique to a full service corporate and commercial law firm, offering expertise across all sectors including retail, logistics, waste management and financial services. Unlike the traditional law firm, lawyers use technology to work together and with clients, meaning they can choose the best location and style to meet client demands. The firm has also been recognised for its innovative fixed fee charging model.
Recent deals for the firm include advising online knitwear retailer Wool Overs on its sale to private equity firm Langholm Capital, as well as advising Busy Bees Nurseries on its acquisition of Kinder Nurseries.
gunnercooke recently appointed Anna Beaumont as its first female CEO to lead the firm’s growth strategy by establishing its reputation as the best place for senior lawyers to work.
Anna Beaumont, CEO at gunnercooke, added: “We have very quickly grown to 100 partners, and the fact that we could support this growth is largely down to our central team, who are completely focused on ‘client service’ for our partners.
“Everything we do is driven by the goal of making it easier for our lawyers to deliver great work and maintain control of their own lives, and we’re very proud to have cultivated an extremely flexible and dynamic environment to do just that. Now we’re at the exciting stage of having the critical mass which truly allows us to challenge the market place.”
