Keepmoat given the go-ahead for 135-home Oldham transformation
Housing and regeneration firm Keepmoat is set to deliver £15m worth of investment in Oldham after its plan for 135 new homes was approved by Oldham Council’s planning committee.
The Limehurst Village development forms part of a 10-year transformation programme from the council and housing association Regenda to improve the environment and employment opportunities in the area.
Keepmoat is expecting to start work on the homes in early 2016.
Gareth Roberts, Keepmoat’s North West operations director, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to continue our track record of delivery in Oldham, working closely with both Oldham Council and Regenda.
“These new homes will provide a high-quality housing offer that will deliver real choice within Limehurst and perfectly complement the ambitious vision for the neighbourhood.”
Oldham Council’s Cabinet member for housing, planning and transport, Cllr Dave Hibbert, said he believes the £15m project will transform the area.
He said: “Keepmoat has worked with us on a number of projects over the last few years and the finished properties will provide good quality family homes.
“Large scale building projects like this, and other construction schemes, such as the successful ones at Derker, St Mary’s and Crossley, are transforming housing estates across Oldham and providing a boost for the borough’s construction industry.”
Martin Davies, Regenda Homes’ director of development, called the approval from the planning committee “excellent news” for the community.
He said the development “will bring investment in new homes and jobs to help the continued long term transformation of Limehurst that Regenda works in partnership to achieve.
“Local people and families, local schools and services will all benefit from this regeneration programme.”
