Year of growth sees Manchester Airport create 2,500 jobs
Manchester Airport has revealed that more than 2,500 employment opportunities will be up for grabs at its Jobs Fair in January.
The airport is hoping to recruit for various roles, including cabin crew, retail workers, baggage handlers, security personnel and check-in staff.
The jobs were created as Manchester Airport takes steps to cater for an increasing number of passengers and airlines.
Manchester Airport is already one of the North West’s largest employers, with 21.5k on-site staff and a further 45k jobs supported across the region.
The site’s managing director, Ken O’Toole, said: “We are delighted that 2,500 jobs will be available across the airport site at the Jobs Fair in January 2016.
“Manchester Airport not only plays a vital role in providing international connectivity for the region, it is also an economic provider and job creator.”
He continued: “In the North West alone the airport makes an economic impact of £1.7bn. As we grow and increase upon our 23m passengers and 210 destinations, in turn employment and economic value will also continue to grow.
“We look forward to welcoming people from our local communities and the wider region on January 13 and wish them every success in accessing the variety of roles available.”
Last week, the airport invited companies to bid for contracts worth up to £500m as part of its 10-year, £1bn transformation.
