Top ten reasons to buy a new home

A New Year can mean a new start for many house buyers so a leading regional builder has produced its top ten list as to why new build homes offer people low maintenance and cost-effective living.

No chain, cheaper energy bills and better security are just some of the reasons that make a new build more viable than a second hand property, according to Persimmon Homes North East.

Debbie Zaben, sales and marketing director for the regional builder, said one of the biggest savings people could make was on the cost of keeping their home warm as new builds comply with the latest Government regulations on energy efficiency.

She added: “There are all sorts of benefits to buying new which we thought we would compile into a list to help people make the decision on their next house move. It is one of the biggest decisions people make in their lives, so it is important to get it right. We would urge people to reserve their new home for the New Year now.”

Persimmon Homes’ top ten list of advantages in buying a new build home:

1. No Chain: Buying a new home limits the chance of being caught in a time-consuming and lengthy chain.

2. Modern Living: New homes are designed to use every inch of available space effectively. Research shows that 17 per cent of living space in older properties often goes unused.

3. High spec living: Everything is brand new – the kitchen, bathroom suite, en suites, wardrobes.

4. More time, money and freedom: With no time-consuming repairs or maintenance you will have the freedom and extra cash to enjoy your spare time.

5. Great incentives: There is a range of offers and promotions to make it easier to buy your new home: Home Change, Part Exchange and Help to Buy are just some of them.

6. Security: New homes are more secure than many older buildings as they often include security locks and security lighting. Fire safety includes the installation of smoke alarms, fire doors (where applicable) and fire retardant materials.
