Revenues at Manchester & Cheshire Construction surpass £10m
Manchester & Cheshire Construction, the Salford-based building contractor, drove its annual revenues past the £10m mark in 2015 for the first time.
After experiencing improving market conditions and pulling in bigger projects, the company’s turnover for the 12 months to September 30 leapt from £8.55m to £10.4m, an increase of 21%.
2015 saw the firm sign the largest contract in its 44-year history, a project worth £6m to revamp the Samuel Alexander Building at the University of Manchester. With work commencing at the site in June, the project is due for completion in July 2017.
The company announced further contracts with a string of North West universities in November.
Elsewhere, Manchester & Cheshire Construction carried out a £150k extension and upgrade at its Salford HQ while increasing its staff count by six to 55.
Commenting on the results, the firm’s MD, Dave Lowe, said: “We are on track to achieve these goals as we target larger projects and seek to secure places on more frameworks to add to those we currently hold, such as Salford City Council, the University of Manchester, Cheshire East Council and Royal Mail.
“Our investment in a new development division is also beginning to bear fruit.”
Dave continued: “In addition, the quality of our workforce has been greatly enhanced by a policy of targeted recruitment.
“The new financial year has begun strongly, with a 17% rise in turnover during the first quarter, and we remain confident for the future.”
In October, Manchester & Cheshire Construction announced the appointment of Peter Collins, who has experience in business growth, to the position of non-executive chairman, as well as revealing a new alliance with the Chongqing Jinstar Real Estate Development Company, a developer based in China.
Looking ahead, Manchester & Cheshire Construction is targeting further growth this year, with plans to hit a revenue of £12m in the 12 months to September 2016 and £20m by September 2018.
