Blue Monday Prompts Brits to Better Their Career

New research has revealed today is the day of the year on which Brits are most likely to quit their job.

26% of Brits said that they have considered handing their notice in on blue Monday more than any other day of they year, found the study by beabetteryoucourses.co.uk.

34% would consider calling in sick on the third Monday of January, whilst an overwhelming 73% admitted to a lack of motivation by the third week of the new year.

Top contributors to Britons Blue Monday woes, were; bad weather (32%), money worries (21%), stress (18%), sickness (16%), and the breaking of New Year’s resolutions (8%).

The survey findings follow a shocking study by the University of Exeter, which revealed the third Monday in January could cost the UK economy up to £93 billion in lost productivity.

Simon Bubb, managing director at beabetteryoucourses.co.uk, said: “January and the New Year is a popular time to consider a career change and it seems that the Blue Monday lull in motivation and lack of enthusiasm is enough to give those who are considering a change the push they need.”

Reaching goals and spurring on clients will also ease their worries, help them stick to resolutions, and brighten their Blue Monday, actually making a difference in people’s lives.”

The research showed women (29%) were most likely to consider handing in their notice on blue Monday, compared to men (23%).
