Pet supplies retailer Pets at Home saw sales and revenue growth during the third quarter as it continued to open new sites across the UK.
In the 12 weeks to December 31, the Wilmslow-based firm achieved like-for-like sales growth of 2.2%, with sales up by 1.7% in its merchandise business and 8.5% in services.
The company also reported a total revenue of £195.1m for the period, which represents growth of 7.1%. Of the firm’s overall takings, £177.3m came from merchandise and £17.8m from services.
During the 12-week period, Pets at Home opened seven new superstores, 15 grooming salons, six veterinary practices and a Barkers-branded shop in Kent.
In Dorking, Surrey, the firm launched a trial of Whiskers ’n Paws by Pets at Home, a new store format focused on dog and cat owners.
CEO Nick Wood said: “We are pleased with the improved trading momentum in our merchandise business, alongside continued strength in our vet and grooming services.
“We are also delighted with our acquisition of one of the UK’s leading specialist hospitals, Anderson Moores, which further develops our presence in this important strategic segment of the veterinary market.”
He added: “We look forward to further growth and expansion in 2016.”
