Safeguarding the Hospitality Industry with Quality Appliances
In the hospitality industry, reputation and service are everything. Whether you cater for the late-night post-pub trade or offer an exclusive a la carte menu to diners, your clientele will come back time and time again if the drinking and dining experience you offer is a positive one.
However, with increasing numbers of news outlets naming and shaming eateries with poor food health and safety standards, consumers are paying greater attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of food premises to inform their eating-out choices.
According to the bi-annual Public Attitudes Tracker Survey conducted by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) which polled 2640 members of the general public this year:
- 48% of people reported concerns about food safety in UK restaurants, pubs, cafes and takeaways.
- 83% reported being aware of the hygiene standards in places they eat out at or buy food from.
- Consumers confirm quickly assessing the safety and quality of an outlet based on the general appearance of the premises (61%), appearance of staff (46%), visibility of food hygiene certificates (43%) and hygiene stickers (32%).
This growing awareness is being facilitated by a number of government and independent organisations. Online, via the FSA, takeaway services like Just Eat or even Apps from groups like Scores on the Doors, the food hygiene ratings of the nation’s eateries are just a click away.
For any food or drink establishment that wants to safeguard its reputation and secure its customer base in a highly competitive industry, it’s never been more important to invest wisely in the right catering equipment and a food hygiene training programme for personnel.
Chief Buyer of ShakeAway, the world’s largest milkshake bar franchise explains that part of their growing success comes from working in partnership with a reliable facilities supplier who enable them to run clean and appealing stores.
Working primarily with fresh dairy produce, ShakeAway rely on a variety of high performance front and rear of house equipment to supply their customers in every store throughout the franchise with consistently flavoured, chilled and blended products.
Alexanders Direct, a catering equipment specialist based in Andover, have been supplying ShakeAway with quality appliances, “from commercial upright fridge/freezers to stylish gloss-top chest freezers and small under counter fridges, plus all the other vital pieces of equipment such as juice dispensers, customer drinks fridges and microwaves” since 2011.
