Knights to create 100 jobs with Darbys acquisition

Professional services firm Knights, which has offices in Chester and Hale, has announced plans to significantly increase its staff count after snapping up Darbys Solicitors.

Following its acquisition of the Oxford- and Manchester-based law firm, Knights said it now intends to create 100 jobs.

Knights’ CEO, David Beech, commented: “This is our largest acquisition to date and will see Knights adapt to the ever-changing legal and professional services industry.

“We have a long-term plan to invest in more professional services so we can grow our portfolio and deliver an even better service to our clients.”

He added: “Regional accountancy groups, tax specialists and real estate advisory organisations located outside of the major cities of Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, are the main focus, but we remain a flexible and adaptable business that can respond to the needs of the changing market place.”

Knights, which expects to soon hit a turnover of £40m, currently employs more than 300 people across several offices, including sites in Stoke on Trent, Derby and Oxford.

Speaking further, David said: “Future acquisitions and the recruitment of 100 talented professionals who seek to join a functional business and cohesive culture are integral to our ambitious growth plans.”

The acquisition was funded with backing from the business-focused Allied Irish Bank (GB).

Of the 100 professionals to be taken on in the recruitment drive, 50 will be based in Oxford.
