Irlam manufacturer Allied Filter Systems targets expansion following latest acquisition
Allied Filter Systems Ltd, the Irlam-based filter manufacturer, has acquired competitor Wolf Filtration Ltd.
The deal, completed for an undisclosed sum with Barclays support, will allow Allied Filter Systems to unlock growth and shore up its position in the market, according to its co-owners.
Chris Thompson, who runs the firm alongside his brother, Dan, said of the transaction: “We would like to thank Mr David Oliver and Mr Steve Walton, the founders of Wolf Filtration Ltd, for their assistance during the acquisition process and we look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with the customers and suppliers of Wolf Filtration Limited.
“The support we continue to receive from Barclays is an endorsement of our strategy and illustrates both the strength of our balance sheet and the quality of our asset base.”
Allied Filter Systems Ltd operates two UK manufacturing facilities and sees its products sold in more than 25 countries, across sectors such as automotive and pharmaceuticals.
Mike Holligan, Barclays Corporate Banking’s Manchester-based relationship director, said of the acquisition: “Barclays has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Thompson family for 40 years.
“Wolf Filtration is an excellent strategic fit and we look forward to seeing Chris and Dan take the business to the next level in the months and years ahead.”
Wolf Filtration Ltd is based to the south of Oldham, near Stalybridge.
