Keen Programmer Finds Work Experience at Target

Barnsley software company Target, welcomed young school programmer Harry Savage into their office for work experience as he works alongside the company’s Software Development Department.

The Holy Trinity student is currently studying Computer Science at GSCE with aspirations of the top grade. The school’s IT talent has been working next to some of the best software developers in the country; who have worked with the likes of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Kier Group and NHS Trusts, to understand the industry and get valuable work experience in an IT office.

Target are keen to help and nurture local talent to provide a career path and build valuable experiences that will help those with aspirations in the IT industry.

Shaun Bellis, Senior Software Develop at Target says, “Our Software Development team is being tasked with some exciting new projects and we love giving the opportunity for aspiring young talent like Harry the chance to learn new skills from having work experience here with us.”

The Software Developers at Target were able to provide Harry with advice on; computer building, programming techniques and what should be his next step to pursue his career ambitions.

Harry Savage, Student says, “I really enjoyed my time at Target and glad I reached out to them for my work experience placement. Although I’m not sure on my future in IT being only fifthteen, my experience of the IT industry at Target was a positive one. The development team have provided me with new and valuable skills I can take with me that will help my future career choices.”

Harry joins Target, specialists in providing business management systems globally since 2010 to companies such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, The British Library, and Pret A Manger. The software company provides the tools to be more efficient, effective and lean by developing creative software solutions for the data management challenges businesses face.
